What Infant teachers want parents to know – Reading levels | Creating A Learning Environment

This is a great blog post which explains the how and why of home/school reading strategies with your kindergarten child.  I love how the author reminds you that reading at home should be enjoyable and easy.  Leave the hard stuff for school and don’t compare children to each other.

  1. My granddaughter had a diagnosis of dyslexia. She got all the way to grade2,still wasn’t reading,we talked about repeating her. No, no they said it would knock her confidence down. What do you think not being able to read does?? We were told that she will get it all of a sudden. She was put up to grade 3. My daughter went to see the headmistress, showed her all of the dyslexia documents, which said she would find it difficult to read. Asked for help, was told that the school has not got a bucket of money to give out. It was Easter 2014, my daughter took both the children out of a public school, and enrolled them into a private Adventist school. It only had less than 100students. Well what a difference it made, with -in 2weeks,she had the old sparkle back in her eyes, she has not looked back. She is reading beautifully, both children are doing extremely well. My daughter has to take out a loan every year to pay for it,but it is worth it. It is the” RIVERSIDE ADVENTIST SCHOOL” in TOWNSVILLE,if anyone wants a small school with VERY CARING& DEDICATED staff, and may I add NO BULLYING!!!!
